If you are running a legacy Microsoft Dynamics GP, SL, NAV, or AX system, the conversation around "moving to the cloud" is likely a constant in your boardroom. While the benefits of modernization are clear, the fear of complexity and cost often causes the project to be pushed down the roadmap. Microsoft’s Bridge to the Cloud 3 (BTC3) promotion is the answer to those concerns, offering a safe, flexible, and financially incentivized path forward.

Here are the seven most critical facts you need to know about the BTC3 promotion to determine if it is the right move for your organization.

1. A Substantial 30% Discount for Three Years

The primary financial driver of BTC3 is a 30% discount on standard commercial list prices for Dynamics 365 online licenses. Unlike standard sales that might fluctuate, this discount is locked in for a fixed 3-year term. This provides your organization with the price stability and predictability needed for long-term financial planning and budgeting.

2. Dual Access Rights Remove Migration Pressure

One of the biggest risks in any ERP migration is the "hard cutover" date. BTC3 eliminates this risk by providing Dual Access Rights. This means you can continue using, expanding, and upgrading your on-premises system while simultaneously deploying and testing your new Dynamics 365 cloud environment. You can move workloads at your own pace without stalling daily operations.

3. No "Double-Paying" for Your Software

Historically, companies feared they would have to pay for their old maintenance plan and their new cloud subscription at the same time. With BTC3, Microsoft allows you to redirect your existing Enhancement Plan (EP) dollars toward your new cloud subscription. You effectively stop paying for a static legacy system and start investing those same dollars into your modern cloud future.

4. Free Enhancement Plan (EP) Renewals

As part of the promotion, Microsoft extends your Enhancement Plan for your on-premises version at no additional cost during the 3-year BTC3 term. This protects your existing investment and ensures your legacy system stays supported and compliant while you prepare for the final transition to the cloud.

5. Specific Eligibility Dates to Watch

The BTC3 promotion is available for new enrollments to December 31, 2027. To qualify, you must have purchased your Dynamics on-premises perpetual licenses prior to September 1, 2024. If you have previously participated in "Bridge to the Cloud 1" or "Bridge to the Cloud 2," you are generally ineligible for this third iteration.

6. Minimum Licensing Requirements

To maintain your 30% discount and dual access rights, there is a "maintenance of effort" requirement. The annualized value of your new Dynamics 365 cloud licenses must be equal to or greater than your existing annual EP renewal amount. This ensures that your transition is a true modernization step rather than a reduction in business capability.

7. Enrollment Requires a Certified CSP Partner

You cannot simply "turn on" this promotion yourself. BTC3 enrollment must be completed through an authorized Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partner. A partner like Turnkey Technologies will handle the licensing assessment, verify your eligibility, and manage the fixed 3-year subscription on your behalf to ensure a seamless transition.

Why Wait? The Window is Open.

Microsoft’s long-term strategy is clear: innovation, security, and AI tools like Microsoft Copilot live in the cloud. The BTC3 promotion is designed to help you get there faster with fewer risks and lower costs.
